Epetōme, the gut health company founded by nutritionist Emily English, has secured a multimillion-pound investment to accelerate its international expansion and expand its clinical research programme.
Led by consumer-focused investment firm Active Partners and venture capital firm Redrice Ventures, the funding will enable the brand to increase investment into clinical testing across both probiotics and prebiotics.
The investment will also enable global expansion for Epetōme.
Founded in 2023 by English, better known online as EmTheNutritionist, and Jimmy Hill, Epetōme offers products for digestive improvements as well as broader issues linked to gut health, such as eczema and rosacea.
English told Cosmetics Business that the investment “feels incredibly validating”.
“I started Epetōme because I was frustrated by how hard it is to trust supplements, and I had spent years hearing the same gut health stories from clients who were exhausted by trial and error,” said English.
“To have that mission backed at this level is a huge moment for us.
“It is a real vote of confidence in what we are building and in the standard we want to set for the category.”
She continued: “I always believed there was a real gap for a gut health brand people could genuinely trust, but the speed of growth has been beyond what I imagined.
“The most exciting part is that it has been driven by the community.
“When customers are coming back, telling friends, and sharing the impact it has had on their daily lives, you know you have built something that is actually solving a problem.”
