Imports from outside the EU to be labelled

The European Parliament has now approved an EU regulation insisting that personal care products imported from outside the EU, Turkey, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein be labelled or marked with their country of origin.

MEPs agreed the words ‘made in’ and the country of origin must be written on labels in English or a local language understood where the goods are sold. The EU has no harmonised origin labelling at present and the EU Council of Ministers has yet to approve the legislation.
