Gallinée founder and Creative Director Dr Marie Drago has announced she is exiting the business.
Drago founded the microbiome-focused beauty brand in 2014 with a range of products that use a patented complex of pre-, pro- and postbiotics, including cult sku Gallinée Face Vinegar.

Gallinée sold to Shiseido in 2022 boosting the Japanese beauty giant’s skin care portfolio.
Drago has been Creative Director for the brand for the past four years since selling to Shiseido, most recently reporting to Alberto Noe, President and CEO at Shiseido EMEA and Americas.
In a post on online platform Substack, Drago said she is currently working her last week at Gallinée.
“While I am super sad to leave the team I have been working with for years, I am quite excited about stepping into the total unknown once more,” Drago said in the post.
Drago outlined her desire to return to entrepreneurship and “getting my hands dirty”, teasing that she would reveal what she plans to do next on the platform.
In her Substack post, Drago continued: “I did what I wanted to do, and I am leaving the brand in the hands of more capable people than me for the next chapter.”
Cosmetics Business has contacted Gallinée for comment.
The departure follows the appointment of Romain Carrega in April to lead Gallinée’s European expansion, succeeding Anne Ravillion.
Carrega, who was previously appointed Deputy Chief Marketing Officer Derma & Prestige at parent company Shiseido EMEA, will lead this “new phase of growth” for the microbiome beauty brand in the region.
