In the third quarter of 2011, Henkel sales totalled €4,028m, an increase of 1.7% on the prior year period. Organic sales, which exclude the impact of foreign exchange, and acquisitions and divestments, increased 6.5%. Operating profit (EBIT) for the period was €451m, down from €501m in 2010, while adjusted earnings per preferred share (EPS) rose 6.3% to €0.85.

The company’s cosmetics and toiletries business sector significantly contributed to growth with organic sales up 5.6%.

“Henkel continued its solid performance in the third quarter. Despite the challenging market environment, we outperformed once again our relevant markets in terms of organic sales growth,” said Henkel ceo Kasper Rorsted of the company’s performance. “We now expect organic sales growth for the full fiscal year to be between 5-6%. In line with our previous guidance we expect our adjusted EBIT margin to increase around 13% and adjusted earnings per preferred share by about 10%.”
