Claire Shread founded British hair care brand Umberto Giannini in 1998, alongside her late partner and celebrity hairstylist Umberto Giannini.

Specialising in products for curls, the B Corp-certifed brand has become a must-have brand on TikTok and landed fresh seven-figure investment to boost its international growth.

"I think everyone must be true to themselves and their values, treat everyone as their equal and those that share your values and vision will still be there at the end of the day making wonderful things with you," Shread tells Cosmetics Business.

Here, in partnership with CEW UK, Shread details her career journey, her advice for new starters as well as the essential skills a cosmetics industry professional can possess.
