M&H Plastics has announced the launch of a new antimicrobial product.

It is said to help stop the spread of infection and is clinically proven to be effective across a wide range of bacteria including MRSA and E. Coli. It works by adding ionic silver which inhibits fungal growth and kills over 99.99% of bacteria within 24 hours, and is said to be effective over the lifetime of the product. It is widely used in the NHS and is accepted as one of the most effective antimicrobial additives.

The product works via the presence of silver ions on the surface of the moulding. When bacteria lands on this surface they will be in a very vulnerable position?and if they try to consume something on the surface, a silver ion will be ingested and the cell wall will be unable to close, thereby eliminating the ability of the cell to reproduce. The bacteria cell will die very shortly after contact with the silver. M&H says the product is ideal for a wide range of cosmetics, toiletries and personal care products and provides a product differentiator at a competitive price.
