The Estée Lauder Companies-owned make-up brand’s charity initiative, Viva Glam, has teamed up with the fashion designer on a new collection, and has tapped Trans models Dominique Jackson, Josephine DuPont, Ivy Stewart and Green Kim as ambassadors

MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with fashion designer Conner Ives to create a limited edition launch as part of its charitable initiative Viva Glam.

The ‘Protect the Dolls’ T-shirt and Viva Glam Lipstick collection will be launched to coincide with Trans Day on 31 March.

Worn by Ives at his AW25 show during London Fashion Week, more than 17,000 ‘Protect the Dolls’ t-shirts have been sold to date, raising more than US$600,000 for charities Trans Lifeline and Not A Phase in the UK.

The new collaboration with MAC Viva Glam intends to extend this commitment further, with 100% of the selling price being donated to organisations advancing trans equality.

“Partnering with Conner Ives on ‘Protect the Dolls’ through MAC Viva Glam is a very special moment for us,” said MAC Cosmetics Global Creative Director Nicola Formichetti.

“Conner represents a new generation of designers using their platform with purpose, and that commitment to community is something we strongly align with at MAC Viva Glam has always stood for advocacy and action.

“This collaboration strengthens that mission and expands our support for trans communities around the world.”

MAC Cosmetics’ Viva Glam has also tapped trans models – Dominique Jackson, Josephine DuPont, Ivy Stewart and Green Kim – as ambassadors for the new limited edition launch.

The Estée Lauder Companies-owned make-up brand launched the CSR initiative in 1994 to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS programmes.

The annual campaign sees all sales of the Viva Glam lipstick line-up donated to grassroots equal rights charities worldwide.

Previous ambassadors for the charitable push include Drag Race star RuPaul, and singers Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga.

Ives added: “This collaboration with MAC and Viva Glam is deeply personal to me, having grown up endlessly inspired by the Viva Glam campaigns that came before it.

“What started as a simple T-shirt has become a global movement.

“And I could not be prouder to partner with an organisation that has championed the rights of LGBTQIA+ communities since the 1990s.

“The dolls are my family, and with this collaboration we can all show support for a community that needs it now more than ever.

“Together we are using this rallying cry to fund care, spark conversation, and stand in solidarity with people whose lives and voices deserve protection, celebration and support.”

In 2024, MAC Cosmetics celebrated 30 years of Viva Glam and marked the milestone by donating £1m to its UK and Ireland charity partners.
