Announces creation of Avon Global Believe Fund

Avon has announced a $1m commitment to ending violence against women as part of its year-long 125th anniversary celebration.

At a party attended by over 5,000 Avon representatives in Atlanta – the first city on the company’s Avon Believe World Tour – chairman and ceo Andrea Jung and Avon ambassador and actress Reese Witherspoon announced the creation of the Avon Believe Fund, a global effort to support women’s domestic violence shelters and agencies in each of the tour’s 16 cities. The Avon Foundation for Women will partner with the National Network To End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) to identify and fund an international network of nonprofit organisations that provide services for victims of domestic abuse and their families.

“As the company for women, Avon feels an obligation and responsibility to pay a leadership role in helping to improve the lives of women around the world and we truly believe we can make a difference,” commented Jung. “Decade in and decade out, the ‘Avon lady’ has been at the forefront of the changing role of women.”

The Avon Believe World Tour will visit Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, London, Istanbul, New York, Chicago, Mexico City, Warsaw, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Manila, Shanghai, New Delhi and Johannesburg and is set to feature appearances from special guests and Avon ambassadors including singer Fergie, Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey and model Yasmin Le Bon.
