The EU’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) has published an opinion on the safety of salicylic acid (CAS 69-72-7) in cosmetics.

Salicylic acid is typically used in cosmetics as a denaturant, hair and skin conditioner, exfoliant, anti-acne cleansing agent, anti-dandruff agent and preservative.
