Developed with dermatologists, the tool provides skin diagnosis and treatment recommendations

L’Oréal-owned skin care brand La Roche-Posay has launched an AI-powered tool for acne sufferers.

Eight in ten people are affected by acne in the UK between the ages of 11 and 30, according to the NHS.

The new Spotscan app is designed to educate consumers on acne and self-assess their condition.

It is said to contain extensive data from dermatologists and features an exclusive algorithm, which has been developed by dermatologists.

Available for iPhone and Android devices, Spotscan takes three images of the user’s skin and gives a grade, and total number of blackheads, inflammatory spots and marks left by spots.

The tool will then provide tailored skin care advice as well as La Roche-Posay product recommendations based on the customer's skin type and grading.

Users can also track their skin progress as they incorporate the tool’s recommendations into their daily skin care routines.

The Spotscan is also available on boots.com.
