Trusted Performance

Shell NEODOL® and Shell NEODENE® grades deliver the properties formulators have relied on for decades. Shell NEODOL alcohols are palm free, providing a drop-in alternative to oleo analogues, ideal for manufacturers formulating to meet EUDR compliance.

  • Shell NEODOL alcohols: Lightly branched structure provides foaming power, formulation ease, stability, and emollient benefits—ideal for shampoos, body washes, and other personal care products.
  • Shell NEODENE alpha olefins: Highly linear structure, suited for intermediates used in personal care applications.

High-Purity Emollients

Shell NEODOL alcohols are colourless, non-irritating, and non-sticky, leaving skin soft and smooth. Their high purity helps maintain product colour and stability, while also supporting viscosity control in creams, lotions, sunscreens, and hair care. Specific grades—such as Shell NEODOL 45 (C14,15) and Shell NEODOL 5 (C15)—are especially suited for higher-viscosity formulations.

Solubility and Compatibility

Shell NEODOL products mix easily with many solvents at room temperature. For example, Shell NEODOL 45 shows performance comparable to C16 alcohols, and Shell NEODOL 25 is miscible with many vegetable oils—broadening formulation options.

Certified and Compliant

Several Shell NEODOL products qualify under the U.S. EPA’s Safer Choice program, meeting stringent biodegradability and safety standards. In Europe, Shell NEODOL grades are listed in REACH and the Detergents Ingredients Database, supporting EU Ecolabel applications. Additionally, Shell NEODOL and Shell NEODENE grades are Kosher certified.
