A new study commissioned by Superdrug has revealed that the average woman will spend £18,049.89 on face products alone between the ages of 18-82, translating into £279.41 a year for face care and make-up items.
Face wipes were revealed as the most purchased product, with women buying five packs a year on average, while moisturiser is the item women shell out the most for. The figures show that the average women spends a total of £147.46 on cosmetics a year, adding up to £9,525.91 over her adult life, compared to a lifetime spend of £8,523.97 on face care.
The findings show that women are becoming ever more savvy with their beauty buys, with 73% opting for retailer's own brand products over their prestige counterparts. On average, the women surveyed buy 38 different products for their face annually, totaling 2,455 by the time they reach the age of 82.
