Calvin Klein make-up license passes to Coty
Coty Inc and Calvin Klein Inc to develop and market colour cosmetics line
Coty Inc and Calvin Klein Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation, are to develop and market a full make-up line, due to launch in 2012.
Prior to the announcement, Calvin Klein’s colour business was licensed to Markwins Holding Co, which will now pass to Coty. Coty acquired the Calvin Klein fragrance business in 2005, but at the time the brand’s colour cosmetics license was not available.
“We feel that there are great synergies with centralising our fragrance and colour cosmetics business with the same partner,” explained Tom Murry, president and ceo of Calvin Klein Inc.
Commenting on the collaboration, Coty ceo Bernd Beetz added: “Calvin Klein fragrances have remained amongst the most popular around the world and we feel strongly that this introduction will further strengthen both Coty’s and Calvin Klein’s dynamic positioning within the beauty arena.”
