French subsidiary losing out to Sephora

William Koeberle, ceo of Marionnaud, has decided to take direct control of the French arm of the perfumes and cosmetics distribution group. He has said his intention will be to visit a retail outlet in person at least once a week.

Koeberle has taken over in succession to Mick Vercouteren, a Belgian, who is leaving the company for personal reasons. While investment has been undertaken into modernising the chain since 2008, sales have stagnated and profits remain below expectations. The French subsidiary posted annual sales of €692m last year against a group total of €1.1bn and has lost market share to the LVMH company Sephora. It is expected the ceo will apply to the French company the disciplines applied in the rest of Europe during his stint at Mariuonnaud International.

Koeberle has already unified his French sales teams and has created a new post of director of operations, occupied by Christian Autie who will be responsible for modernising

the French setup.
