A comprehensive approach to anti-ageing is the most effective way to reduce the ravages of time was the conclusion of the Successful Anti-Ageing Conference, held by the Institute for Anti-Ageing.
At the conference, various key speakers promoted lifestyle measures as being the best way to prevent the onset of disease and to delay age related illness, from Alzheimer's to osteoporosis.
This global approach includes reducing the impact of the environment, practising good nutrition and regular exercise, with the newer developments of hormone supplements and advanced therapies as additional solutions.
David Alpert, founder of the Intermnational Institute for Anti-Ageing, underlined the importance of the beauty industry in the fight against time: “Aesthetics have been proven to be truly anti-ageing, as one feels better in themselves, enjoys life and increases positive thoughts and contentment, they inevitably live longer, and more fulfilled lives.”
In this way preventative treatments that are presently considered luxuries, such as skin care and cosmetics could be considered inherently anti-ageing for their emotionally restorative properties, something that the cosmetics market will be quick to promote.
The average UK woman spends a quarter of her life with age-related diseases, according to Alpert (using Eurostat research), contrasting with less than 7% in Italian women.
