UK department store House of Fraser has opened the doors of its flagship London store after a £250m facelift. The Oxford Street store's beauty and accessories floor has been refurbished and now features a granite and glass fronted shop façade, as well as an eye-catching black marble fragrance hall. The beauty department underwent a refurbishment two years ago but House of Fraser has since been acquired by the Highland Group consortium.
The beauty department has also been boosted with a number of new brands including Farmacia Urban Healing, Darphin and the new fragrance trilogy from Roja Dove. In addition a Chanel studio has been installed as well as new retail concepts from Estée Lauder, Shiseido, Tom Ford, Gucci, D&G, Prada and Lancôme.
“We feel we have created a fantastic concept with great customer service and great brands in store,” commented House of Fraser chairman and ceo, John King.
In other news, the chain is planning to expand its partnership with The Body Shop with two new shop in shop concepts to be rolled out in its Leamington Spa and Birmingham stores. A concession is already operational in its Hull branch. This is the first time that The Body Shop has entered into a partnership with a department store in the UK.
“The Hull concept has been a great success and we are keen to expand - why can't you have a Body Shop stand in a House of Fraser store?” said Head of Buying - Beauty, Debbie Beaumont Howell.
Beaumont Howell also told cosmeticsbusiness.com that House of Fraser would be adding a number of new brands to its retail portfolio including the newly relaunched Calvin Klein cosmetics range, natural brand Korres and Banana Republic's fragrance and toiletries lines.
“We have some very exciting launches in the pipeline. We have worked closely with our suppliers and that's why our price points are so good,” she added.
