Indu has partnered with The BRIT School to support more young people to get into the arts and creative industries.

The teen-focused British beauty brand will offer make-up artist and skin care masterclasses to Production Arts and Musical Theatre students as part of its “mission to celebrate teens beyond the beauty space”.

Alumni of the performing arts state school which is based in London include musicians Adele, Raye and Lola Young as well as actors Tom Holland and Cush Jumbo.

The 12-month partnership will include a £40,000 donation of Indu products to help theatre, film, dance and music students.

Indu will also offer a paid summer internship to one student as well as other work shadowing and placement opportunities.

Nearly half of The BRIT School students are from low income households.

According to Indu’s committee of in-house teens, around 40% are interested in music and drama.

But arts subjects in state secondary schools have declined by as much as 26% in recent years making it harder to nurture young, diverse and creative talents, Indu says.

“To be able to partner with The BRIT School in this way is a real honour for indu,” said Aaron Chatterley, Indu co-founder and Executive Chair.

“We are all about celebrating teen talent, so this aligns perfectly with our core values.

“It is fantastic to know that our contribution will go a little way to helping enable the school to continue the incredible job they do, providing arts education to such a wide and diverse community.

“We are really excited to be aligned with such a prestigious and successful school.”

The BRIT School Director of Communications Alexa Cruickshank said that through experimenting with products, students “will be able to shine confidently and express themselves for their future careers in the creative and performing arts”.

The partnership comes hot on the heels of Indu’s Teen Athlete Sponsorship Programme.

Launched in January, young athletes will be offered help covering costs of competition entry fees, travel, kit and equipment.

The first athletes to join the programme included International Gromsearch Surfing Champion Lukas Skinner; and Captain of Arsenal Women's U21 Squad Omotara Junaid, and it aims to support between 20 and 30 athletes for its first cohort.

Indu launched in September 2023 offering skin care and make-up for teenagers, with the messaging ‘created for teens by teens’.

It was created by Chatterley and Richard Schiessl, the co-founders of online beauty retailer Feelunique, which was absorbed into Sephora UK in 2022.

Last year it landed £4m investment from Unilever via the conglomerate’s venture arm, to boost retail expansion and help it break into the US beauty market.
