Luxury packaging designer Marc Rosen discusses new MRA Studio division

Marc Rosen, the famed luxury cosmetic packaging designer, recently branched into the niche sector with MRA Studio. He discusses niche market needs, and marrying history and modernity into skin care brand design as part of his latest project, Lucia Magnani Skincare

Marc Rosen, founder of Marc Rosen Associates, is best known in his capacity as a designer of luxury fragrance packs for big brand names; his fan-shaped Lagerfeld flacon and the iconic pack for Elizabeth Arden Red Door, inspired by the shape and colour of Arden’s famous salon doors, in particular, spring to mind.

Recently, however, Rosen has moved in a slightly different direction. In response to the emerging phenomena of niche beauty brands, he created a new division, MRA Studio, with his Creative Director, Uruguayan designer Felipe Sena.

“What we’ve been focusing on is to develop brands from scratch,” Rosen tells SPC. Specifically, MRA Studio partners with niche brands in the fashion and lifestyle sectors that are looking to expand their portfolio into fragrance, skin care or make-up with a high end aesthetic on what might be a more limited budget than Rosen’s traditional clients.
