While retail sales rose 3.5% to 6.55bn Brazilian reals (BRL), this was a significant drop on the previous year’s rise of 8%. “Not even the ‘lipstick effect’ contributed to the retail sales of colour cosmetics in 2015,” Mintel says. However, 2016 is promising to be slightly rosier, with a 4.8% increase in sales forecast.
