Afia is the first CoverGirl ambassador to wear a hijab. She joins the Coty-owned brand two weeks after it named James Charles as its first male ambassador
Nura Afia has been named as the latest ambassador for Covergirl.
Afia, 24, who hails from Denver, Colorado, US, is a beauty vlogger and the first CoverGirl ambassador to wear a hijab.
Partnering with CoverGirl for the launch of its So Lashy Mascara campaign, Afia joins a number of other ambassadors including make-up artist and social media star James Charles, 17. Charles was announced as the brand’s first ever male ambassador last month.
Afia conveyed her excitement about her appointment for CoverGirl. “It feels so surreal. Honestly, growing up and being insecure about wearing the hijab I never thought I would see Muslim women represented on such a large scale,” she said.
“It’s important that beauty brands like CoverGirl cast a diverse range of people for their campaigns.”
