Ouai has tapped American actress Victoria Pedretti for a new horror-inspired comedic content series.
The hair care brand’s new series sees classic horror movie tropes enter the Ouai office, with scream queen Pedretti – known for her roles in Netflix thriller You and miniseries The Haunting of Hill House – taking on the role of the ‘Final Girl’ tasked with uncovering the truth.
The three-part series, titled Chopped, puts a hair-focused spin on the horror genre as a mysterious ‘Hairtrosity’ sweeps the office and terrorises employees as they are faced with a beauty nightmare: a bad haircut.
This is the first time Ouai, founded by celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, has toyed with scripted entertainment.
“It started with a simple truth: we tend to talk about hair as either good or bad,” Amanda Martinez, VP Brand Marketing at Ouai, told Cosmetics Business.
“So, if bad hair is the villain, damage is the thing to fear.
“We loved the idea of taking that literally.
“Because beauty and horror both play with their own distinct set of rules and tropes, it gave us a lot of room to turn familiar conventions into an unexpected narrative.”
