The brush development is an integrated process at Geka. The company is working constantly on developing new ways of manufacturing brushes from a huge range of materials.
As part of their sustainability strategy, Geka offers truthful sustainable product solutions even down to the smallest detail and the heart of a mascara: The Brush.
Based on a strong in-house technical center for brush development, Geka has perfected their knowledge on fibre manufacturing and performance with their values for sustainability.
EOSgreen: A new fibre family
The range of exclusive fibres are made of 100% renewable raw material from the castor oil plant. Paired with the properties of Geka's EOS fibres, these fibres are extremely effective in terms of volumes and extra lengthening effects.
This is a smart and clever solution for a high-performing make-up result using sustainable materials. Two fibre filaments of this new family have been presented so far in 2020: EOSgreen and EOSgreendelta fibres.
According to the company, two additional fibre filaments with specific characteristics will be presented in 2021. Next to sustainable fibres, Geka offers vegan fibre filaments, too.
The twisted wire brushes can be precisely tailored to the required application result, thanks to the wide range of unique brush grinding and brush cut technologies of Geka.
Reflecting 2020, Geka focused strongly on sustainability improvements: A Sustainability Manager has been recruited in January 2020. In July, Geka signed up for the SBTi (science-based-initiative) and in September 2020 Geka GmbH has received the Platinum award by the prestigious EcoVadis business sustainability rating provider.
This places Geka amongst the top 1% of companies assessed worldwide. The overall performance rating is based on the 21 criteria defined by EcoVadis in four non-financial categories: environment, labour and human rights, ethic and sustainable procurement practices.
Geka has implemented new processes and guidelines to continue reducing its environment footprint (reducing CO2 emissions, reduction of energy consumption, usage of recycled raw materials in our product lines).
The company is working on consistent transparency across our operations and towards traceability in all stages of the supply chain supported the overall scoring.
In November 2020, Geka has been awarded the prestigious International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC). This is another step in the journey towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
