Natural skin care company Origins Natural Resources has today unveiled its latest foray into the buzzing natural and organics market with its skin care line Origins Organics, a range that is said to be the first prestige brand to carry a Ecocert, USDA and a Soil Association certification.
Braving the increasingly saturated market, Origins' latest offering will lay to rest some widespread misgivings abounding in the cosmetics market regarding the lack of governmental regulation given to products that are deemed 'natural'.
Launching in John Lewis department stores in January 2008 and on the web, the Origins Organic line has set itself apart from its peers by adorning the three widely credited regulation logos on its packaging, logos that give the consumer a guarantee of authenticity in an increasingly confusing market.
Only products, such as the lip balm, which contain over 95% organic ingredients gain the 'certified organic' stamp, while products labelled 'made with organic ingredients' have to be made with a 70% natural formulation.
“When encountering beauty products featuring the USDA Certified Organic seal, consumers can be certain that the standards required for certification remained stringent because these products comply with the same standards the USDA requires for organic food,” explains Joe Smillie, senior vice president of Quality Assurance International, one of the certifying bodies accredited by the USDA.
Formulated without the use of parabens, phthalates and animal ingredients, the range comprises of nine products including body care, skin care and hair care and will be retailing from a suggested price of £11 upwards.
