Trichologist launches ‘hair fitness’ concept

Leading trichologist Philip Kingsley has launched a new ‘hair fitness’ concept with the introduction of four new products and a fifth book (with the working title Fitness Training for your Hair), due for publication in late 2012/early 2013. The concept places emphasis on preventing hair damage, a change for Kingsley who is probably best known for treatment products like Elasticizer and Swimcap. As Kingsley explained at the launch: “For years I’ve been treating problems and I thought why not treat hair so that it doesn’t get problems, in the same way that people keep fit to avoid health issues further down the line.”

The standout product among the new launches is Daily Damage Defence, a light spray to be used on wet hair, which repairs damaged hair, provides heat protection, adds shine and volume, improves manageability and offers daily protection from environmental wear like UV rays. It contains almond seedcake extract, which contains amino acids and proteins that bond to hair, strengthening each strand; hydrolised elastin, known to improve damaged hair; and behenyl derivatives to replenish hair cuticles for extreme gloss.

Meanwhile, new Exfoliating Scalp Mask and Stimulating Scalp Mask products promote a healthy scalp for ‘ultimate hair fitness’, while a Radial Brush helps style hair without compromising scalp health.

The book, said Kingsley, would not just be about his own products but would have more of a self help feel focusing on topics integral to hair health, like nutrition and wellbeing, as well as simple do-it-yourself solutions.
