The beauty industry has no shortage of bold and eye-catching make-up trends, with each month bringing a colourful wash of cosmetics looks.
But a growing number of people are now valuing the less is more approach towards make-up in 2024, with skin tints and tinted moisturisers having fast become the new go-to for beauty lovers.
With over 1.2 billion searches on TikTok, the newfound craze around tinted products has grown alongside the now highly coveted ‘no make-up make-up’ look – which itself has been searched for over 1.6 billion times on the platform.
Designed to add a hint of colour with a more natural-looking finish, the products can typically be applied to the face for a weightless finish.
They also often have added skincare benefits, and a more lightweight formula made using water-based ingredients to encourage even coverage across the face.
Beauty retailer Lookfantastic released a report in February which revealed on site searches with the words ‘skin tint’ had increased by 292% in the past year.
‘Tinted SPF’, ‘tinted moisturiser’, ‘lip tint’ and ‘brow tint’ are among the most popular product types searched for by beauty shoppers on the website.
The beauty buyer said it has seen more consumers looking to swap full-coverage foundations and lipsticks for lightweight counterparts.
It added that tinted products may have also struck a chord with shoppers who struggle with specific skin conditions, but still want to wear make-up.
Some tinted formulas are designed with specific goals in mind such as redness correction, for example, while other formulas are better suited for oil control.
“These time-saving formulas also offer long-lasting benefits, thanks to the infusion of hydrating and nourishing ingredients that help to combat common skin concerns like dryness, ageing or blemishes,” Lookfantastic added.
