in-cosmetics Asia has unveiled the theme for its 2008 conference - age. “Age is one of the main personal care industry drivers globally, whether in the shape of the booming youth market or simply as a fascinating challenge in the pursuit of eternal youth,” according to in-cosmetics Asia.
The conference, which will take place on 5 November - the second day of the exhibition - in Bangkok, Thailand will focus primarily on anti-ageing. Older people currently comprise 10% of the total population in the Asia-Pacific region and this figure is expected to rise to 25% by 2050.
Expected age-themed topics include a review of physiological changes in the skin during ageing, new mechanisms for anti-ageing actives, and UV protection.
Attendees will hear from a panel of speakers featuring Professor Dr Johann Wiechers, president of the IFSCC, Dr Alain Khaiat, former vp of R&D Asia Pacific for Johnson & Johnson in Singapore, and SPF testing authority John Stanton.
