English heritage brand Atkinsons, famed for its fragrances during the Regency and Victorian eras, has been relaunched with new fragrances and formulations. The fragrance house, which was founded over 200 years ago by James Atkinson had fallen on hard times following numerous sales of its licence in the early noughties before being acquired by Perfume Holding (then Morris) in 2008.
Since then the licence holder has trawled Atkinson’s archives and developed a new line of scents based on the heritage of the fragrance house. Sitting in the Emblematic Collection, 24 Old Bond Street is a unisex fragrance inspired by the brand’s headquarters in Mayfair. The signature eau de cologne was created by Christine Nagel and features a fresh aromatic blend of juniper and cardamom, softened by rose and strengthened at the base by a peated cask accord, which blends black tea and cade oil to create a smoky, oaky aroma.
Also new is the Legendary Collection, comprising four edts: The Nuptial Bouquet, Fashion Decree, The British Bouquet and The Odd Fellow’s Bouquet. Each scent is a contemporary take on a heritage fragrance; The Nuptial Bouquet for instance is inspired by Queen Victoria’s bridal bouquet and blends lily of the valley, violet leaf, myrtle and sandalwood, while The British Bouquet takes its lead from sartorial elegance of Beau Brummel and the culture of the dandy. The fragrance collection launches in September priced between £60-£95.
