Cosmetic Executive Women (UK) yesterday revealed the winners of its 2007 'Beauty Oscars' at a lunch held at London's Carton Tower hotel attended by over 300 leading figures in the UK beauty industry. This is just the second year CEW (UK) has run the awards and this year 170 products were nominated across 21 categories, including new entrants for 2007 from the mass beauty and hair care sectors.
Highlights among the winners in the classic categories included Chanel No.5, Guerlain Terracotta Moisturizing Bronzing Powder, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion. Winners in the new categories included Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara, SKII-Airtouch Foundation and the Acqua di Parma Cube Candle. Details of all winners are listed below.
Winners received a Lalique figure and all winning products will be promoted nationwide in seven World Duty Free locations at airports, Harrods and House of Fraser stores. Winning and finalist products sold on QVC, one of the sponsors of the event, will also be featured on a two-hour programme to air on the channel this afternoon.
“The event has been a great success and the Awards have grown well beyond our expectations,” said Caroline Neville, president of CEW (UK). “We doubled our number of categories, dramatically increased brand participation, voting by the members and consumer awareness. The response from the industry and sponsors has been fantastic.”
Mark Riches, md World Duty Free added: “Even though the CEW (UK) Beauty Awards is only in its second year, it has proved a tremendous success; almost double the number of products entered this year and the event is building a strong consumer following. As a sponsor, World Duty Free could not be more proud to support this unique award, which cuts through all the hype to uncover the top, exciting, innovative and cult products for today and tomorrow.” WDF will continue its sponsorship of the event for 2008.
