Homecourt, the home and personal fragrance brand founded by Friends actress Courtney Cox, has secured US$8m from investors to fuel expansion plans.
The Series A round was led by Cult Capital, the venture capital (VC) firm that has previously backed sun care brand Supergoop!, intimate care brand Luna Daily and clean make-up brand Lawless Beauty.
Cox, who is best known for her role as Monica Gellar in the US sitcom Friends and has also starred in the Scream film franchise, founded the business in 2022.
Beauty entrepreneur Nick Axelrod-Welk, who previously founded personal care brand Nécessaire and website Into The Gloss, is also a co-founder of Homecourt, along with former L’Oréal executive Sarah Jahnke.
When it made its debut, Homecourt said it brought a beauty perspective to the cleaning category, with a range of products formulated with niche scents that are typically reserved for perfumes, including dish soaps, surface cleaners and hand washes.
Last year, the brand expanded into body care with a body wash, perfume oil, body mist, body butter and candle, which Cox at the time described as a “natural next step” for the brand.
The fresh injection of cash will help Homecourt accelerate its brand awareness, expand its team and strengthen its infrastructure to support growth, the company said in a statement.
“With less than five full-time employees, we have doubled the business every year and built a cult brand that is defining a new category in the beauty industry," said Jahnke, co-founder and CEO of Homecourt.
“This fundraise gives us the resources to accelerate our impact and scale our category leadership.”
Commenting on the raise, Cox said: “I am unbelievably excited to take this business to the next level.
“Homecourt is my greatest passion, and bringing on a strategic investment partner like Cult Capital means we can become the global household name I know we can be.”
Cult Capital’s investment marks the first from an institutional investor.
Previously Homecourt has been self-funded by Cox along with friends and family, led by venture studio Jobi Brands, of which Cox is an advisory board member.
