The winners of the first-ever Cosmetics Business Innovation Awards (CBIAs) have been revealed, celebrating the outstanding developments and achievements of companies across the global cosmetics and personal care supply chain.

The B2B-focused awards programme spotlights the very best in ingredients, packaging, contract manufacturing, technology, testing, regulatory and compliance.

In the Best Sustainability Initiative of the Year category, Croda Beauty’s Biodegradability Initiative was selected as the winner because of its ability to reduce biodegradability testing time from 28 days to a mere 12 hours.

The new technology, designed to complement existing regulatory tests, works by rapidly screening polymer candidates at scale, therefore delivering indicative results of environmental compatibility in significantly less time. This enables R&D teams to consider environmental fate and prioritise ingredients earlier in the development process.

By reducing testing time by more than 98%, teams can also design products more aligned with circularity principles, reflecting the industry-wide shift towards more sustainable end-of-life outcomes.
