The beauty brand divided opinion among fans of the 'OG' product when it launched the vegan update

Glossier is bringing back its original Balm Dotcom formula after a campaign by fans.

The make-up and skin care brand announced the relaunch on 15 May, with the lip balm line available for sale from 17 May.

Glossier teased the relaunch earlier this week with an Instagram post featuring a pixelated image of what appeared to be its popular Balm Dotcom product in mango with the writing 'you asked for it'.

The caption read "Glossier HQ is just as chronically online as you are 🔎 The gossip threads might be onto something… more to share sooooon?!".

Glossier launched Dotcom in 2014 and it quickly became a cult line, but the brand reformulated the range to become vegan in 2023.

The updated formula replaced lanolin – a hydrating wax from sheep's wool – with a synthetic version to become vegan.

The reformulated Balm Dotcom divided opinion, as some consumers supported the vegan refresh, but loyal fans of the original product have shared their disgruntled opinions on social media and created entire threads on Reddit.

"Mango Balm Dotcom but with the original formula please – we're begging you," one consumer wrote on the teaser post.

"I will immediately place an order for three OG Balm Dotcom's [sic] if they drop," shared another. "My lips are crying, nothing has satisfied me since these changed."

Glossier tested the water of reinstalling the lip balm last month with the launch of its Strawberry Balm Dotcom in what it was calling the original formula.

Meanwhile, it placed its vegan Balm Dotcom on sale from £14 to £7.

Heavily discounting stock is a common practice when a product is discontinued, which could indicate that Glossier is updating the line one again.
