Hailey Bieber's beauty brand Rhode has announced a US$5m grant and partnership with the Foundation for Women’s Health.
The funding, which marks Rhode’s biggest philanthropic commitment to date, will go towards advancing women’s health research and innovation over the next three years.
The Foundation for Women's Health is a non-profit research fund which aims to close historic gaps in women's health research, with a goal to support medical research in these areas to improve health outcomes for women.
This includes identifying understudied and underfunded areas of research across the female life cycle, such as pregnancy and postpartum, as well as autoimmune conditions and polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS).
The funding comes via Rhode’s Futures Fund (formerly called Rhode Futures Foundation) and will also see $1m of the grant allocated to creating the Foundation for Women’s Health Evergreen Fund.
The long-term investment vehicle will back innovative companies advancing women’s health in the areas of therapeutics and diagnostics, particularly for maternal and adolescent health.
“Women's health remains one of the most underfunded areas in medicine and scientific research,” said a page on the Rhode website detailing the partnership and grant.
“While women in the US experience disproportionately poor health outcomes, federal support for research faces unprecedented setbacks, creating significant gaps in funding and slowing progress in critical areas of study.
“The need for private investment has become increasingly important to support women's health at scale.
“We hope to create meaningful change for women around the world by investing long-term in the systems and institutions shaping their lives.”
Rhode’s grant comes after the beauty brand’s acquisition by e.l.f. Beauty in 2025, and forms part of the parent company’s charitable efforts to donate 2% of net profits to meaningful causes each year.
Since Rhode Futures Foundation launched in 2022, the beauty brand has backed a number of organisations, including the Support for Moms Fund and $1m of emergency support for those affected by the 2025 wildfires in Los Angeles, US.
