Iberchem today inaugurated its new facility in the Zengcheng District of Guangzhou. Diplomats and commercial attachés from China, Spain and the United Kingdom, alongside Danuta Gray, Chair of Croda, Sandra Breene, President of Croda Consumer Care, and José Balibrea, Managing Director of Iberchem and Vice President of Croda’s Fragrances & Flavours division took part in the event. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in Iberchem’s development in China and reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to one of the world’s most dynamic fragrance markets.
The new site comprises five buildings, principally for fragrances, and brings together expanded R&D laboratories, offices, a production centre and a warehouse under one roof. Home to more than 170 full-time employees, the facility is considerably larger than the previous one and is designed to support the company’s continued growth in China and across Asia. Its laboratories enable a broader team of fragrance specialists and perfumers to provide advanced customer support and drive research in fragrance technologies such as microencapsulation and neuroscience, while the fully robotised production centre enhances development precision, consistency and delivery times.
José Balibrea, Managing Director of Iberchem and Vice President of Croda’s Fragrances & Flavours division, said:
Iberchem made its first investment in China in 2002, driven by ambition, conviction and a strong belief in the market, our team and the value of long-term partnerships. Today, that vision has become reality: China is our number one country by sales, and Asia is a key pillar of our F&F 2030 growth strategy. This new facility marks an important step in our journey, strengthening our ability to support customers, accelerate innovation and deliver our long-term growth ambitions in China and across the region.
Tony Xu, General Manager of Iberchem in China, said:
Today marks an important milestone for our business in China and, above all, for the customers and teams who have grown with us over the years. By expanding our creative, technical and manufacturing capabilities in a larger and more advanced environment, we are now better positioned to respond faster, collaborate more closely and provide the level of service, agility and local relevance that our customers increasingly expect.
The new centre also hosts Croda’s Beauty Actives business, most specifically botanicals, creating a stronger connection between complementary expertise and enabling deeper collaboration across teams and technologies to support customers more effectively.
Sandra Breene, President of Croda Consumer Care, said:
What makes this centre especially exciting is the strength of integration it represents. By bringing together Iberchem’s fragrance expertise with our Beauty Actives capabilities, we are unlocking new possibilities – creating more holistic, multi-sensory solutions and enabling deeper, more meaningful co-creation with our customers.
Iberchem first invested in China in 2002 in the Huangpu District. The transition to the new centre in Zengcheng District marks the next chapter in this long-term journey, positioning the company to support the growing demand for advanced fragrance technologies, more acute creative development, and strengthened fine perfumery capabilities for customers across China and the wider Asian market.
