The gender-free make-up brand is set to cease trading following the passing of a key investor and business partner

Vegan and gender-free make-up brand Jecca Blac is set to cease trading after almost a decade, following the death of an unnamed business partner and investor.

Sharing the news in an Instagram post (24 September), the statement read: “After almost ten years of hard work and dedication, we have made the heartbreaking decision to close Jecca Blac.

“The sudden passing of my dear business partner and investor, who was also my greatest source of support has left a gap too big to fill.

“Combined with a number of unfortunate events in recent years, it has become clear that continuing the business is no longer sustainable.”

The make-up brand was first launched in 2017 under the name Jecca Makeup, before rebranding as Jecca Blac two years later.

It went on to be stocked in the likes of beauty retailers Sephora, Superdrug, Beauty Bay and more.

The unisex line of colour cosmetics was also targeted towards the transgender community, with founder Jessica Blackler offering one-to-one make-up tutorials to trans customers.

The statement continued: “Jecca Blac was built on the belief that beauty should be inclusive for all.

“Together, with your support, we were able to bring that vision to life and create something truly special.

“From supporting clients to selling over two million units, it really has been a journey.”

The full statement can be found on Jecca Blac’s Instagram page.

The closure is one of many in 2025, with beauty brands and retailers including Bodycare, Youthforia and Ami Colé among those who have ceased trading this year.

As it prepares to shut permanently, the brand is hosting a ‘closing down event’ on its website, offering customers a final chance to shop and stock up on Jecca Blac products.
