Inspired by radiance and light, the fragrance brief was to create both a visual and olfactive glow, to replicate the luminosity of a Swarovski crystal.
Firmenich’s Olivier Cresp and Jean-Pierre Bethouart created the juice, described as an incandescent fruity floral which is centred around a prism of energy, composed of amber, benzoin and white musk. Top notes of lychee and rose add a fruity element, while at heart white tuberose adds femininity. Finally pink pepper adds warmth to the base.
The bottle is composed of a glass flacon housing the pink juice and an outer metal sheath, the top of which is adorned with a single faceted asymmetrical Swarovski crystal.
“Less is most definitely more,” explained Joël Palix, president, Clarins Fragrance Group, “Instead of plastering the bottle with lots of little crystals we have used one which is very effective.”
The edp is available in 30ml and 75ml variants, as well as a refillable 50ml. An edt version is also planned for the Asian market. Palix says there are no inserts in the outer packaging, which is also recyclable.
“We are demonstrating our commitment to sustainability with this launch and showing that it is possible to have luxury with a respect to the environment,” he added.

The fragrance and Make-up Jewels will launch exclusively at Selfridges on 3rd March 2011, before rolling out nationally at the end of March.
