EU ministers have been asked to approve a trade deal negotiated by the European Commission and Albania, liberalising sales of various cosmetics lines.
It says Albanian duties on EU shampoo, hair lacquer, hair lotion, dentifrices, pre- and after-shave goods, deodorants, antiperspirants and personal soaps (including medicated soaps) would be phased out over five years. Also, Albanian duties on various essential oils - lime, lemon, bitter orange, geranium, bergamot and others - would be removed upon the deal's mutual ratification.
The deal also includes rules on assessing whether a cosmetic product or essential oil is officially considered made in Albania or the EU.
