The standard, says BAMA, provides a step-by-step guide for companies to assess their performance against clear requirements for every stage of the aerosol lifecycle including design, filling, warehousing, disposal and emergency planning.

Two separate guides are available: The BAMA Guide to Aerosol Design (2009) and The BAMA Guide to Emergency Planning. The design guide sets out good practice in aerosol product design and testing including specifications, compatibility of formulation with packaging materials, toxicity assessments, understanding corrosion potential and test methods, while the emergency planning guide advises on emergency plans for sites manufacturing aerosols and handling filled aerosols. Both are available to non-members for £150 and £25 respectively.
