Clinique has introduced a new franchise – Daily Calm – which sets out to make skin care and make-up safe and accessible for those with the most sensitised skin types.
While the Estée Lauder Companies-owned brand has always implemented rigorous allergy testing, this new collection marks the brand’s first dedicated range for sensitive skin.
“One of the key things we realised is that there is a growing epidemic of sensitivity and we know the way it affects the skin is inflammation causing long-term damage to the moisture barrier,” Marie Troughton, Medical Community Manager, Clinical Services and Advanced Diagnostic Manager at Clinique, told Cosmetics Business.
“We need to stop the irritation and inflammation causing that cycle of damage, so we created Daily Calm.
“The system helps to stop and quell that irritation and inflammation, utilising new ingredients of uniflavon [a soothing botanical complex] with magnolia bark together to repair and strengthen the moisture barrier.”

Clinique’s Daily Calm franchise launches with four products: Gentle Cream Cleanser and Soothing Repair Cream to soothe skin, alongside Foundation Makeup Balm (landing in eight sheer shades) and Lip + Cheek Color (launching in six shades).
Like all of Clinique’s products, the range underwent rigorous allergy testing and clinical trials through 1,200 applications pre-approval, alongside testing against skin with self-perceived sensitivity.
The brand implemented a further level of testing for this range, working to clinically assess sensitivity using the ‘Burden of Sensitive Skin’ (BoSS) questionnaire to recruit panelists for another round of testing on this clinically diagnosed sensitive skin group.
As well as claiming to be suitable for sensitive skin types, Troughton revealed the line is also suitable for use post-procedure.
She shared: “We know it is a really critical part of sk
