Another warning concerning Chinese toothpaste has been issued for the brand Dr Cool, sold at 123 Dollar stores. The toothpaste is said to contain diethylene glycol or DEG, a chemical used for engine coolants and solvents.
Earlier this month, the US Food and Drug Administration issued warnings against using toothpaste imported from China. The Administration found 26 toothpaste formulas that contain the toxic substance used as a substitute for the sweetener glycerin. The chemical was found possibly harmful to people with kidney and liver disease and children.
Procter & Gamble issued a statement that the toxic chemicals found in the Chinese toxic toothpaste do not affect its own toothpaste brand. Crest toothpaste sold in the US is derived from Crest factories located in North America but is not imported from China, said P&G.
