Following the success of its Amber and Azurée collections by Tom Ford, Estée Lauder is taking another look at some of its more classic packaging and in October will introduce its new Signature Lipstick in its iconic fluted lipstick cases. The cases were first introduced in 1984, but the fluting has been narrowed for 2007 to give a slimmer, sleeker, more contemporary version. The lipstick bullet has also been trimmed and this twists up from a transparent cup rather than the more standard white.
Describing the collection as “the new gold standard in lipstick”, Estée Lauder says this is a move to redefine luxury. “Every element from the packaging to the ingredients to the shade line-up has been assessed and evaluated for unprecedented performance and style,” says the company.
The creamy, moisturising formula is available in 30 shades divided into four groupings - Pink-Berry, Mauve-Plum, Nude-Brown and Coral-Red - plus a colourless Lip Conditioner with SPF 15. The moisturising formula was tested by a panel of 500 women across North America, Europe and Asia, and to get the scent level and character right 150 new fragrances were tested by 250 women. The result is a light blend of fig and vanilla designed to evoke comfort and warmth.
As the only cosmetics sponsor for Fashion Rocks when it returns to the UK this October, Estée Lauder is producing a special edition Signature Lipstick for Swarovski, the main sponsor for the event, organised for The Prince's Trust. The final design has not yet been decided but it will work Swarovski crystals into the fluted case. The shade will be a nude.
