British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association (BAMA) has recognised innovation, success and continued improvement within the UK aerosol industry at its inaugural BAMA Awards 2009. A shortlist of eight companies was judged in the following categories: economic sustainability, environmental benefits and social responsibility.

Awards for economic sustainability went to Lindal Valve Company for its Oil Spraying System and two-in-one Bi-Power-Valve, and Impress Merthyr Tydfil’s Flexidec printing technology. Impress Merthyr Tydfil also impressed in the social responsibility category, winning an award for its strong employee wellbeing programme. Industrial Hydrocarbons scooped a social responsibility award too for its graduate training scheme, which funds scientific and technical studies of benefit to the aerosol industry.

Finally, BAMA paid tribute to Aerocan UK in the environmental benefits category; the company was recognised for its environmentally driven Powder Internal Coating.

Reckitt Benckiser’s New Veet Spray On Hair Removal Cream and Crown Aerosol’s UK Energy Efficiency Programme were also shortlisted.

“By launching the industry awards this year we hope to encourage and provide members with the opportunity to discuss the UK industry’s successes in an informal environment showcasing the latest innovations and progress in sustainability,” said BAMA director Sue Rogers.
