A judge has dismissed a lawsuit against L’Oréal in the US related to claims of benzene contamination in acne treatments sold under its CeraVe and La Roche-Posay brands.
Benzene is a known carcinogen that can form at high levels in products containing benzoyl peroxide (BPO), which is a common ingredient used for killing acne-causing bacteria.
In a class action lawsuit, plaintiffs alleged that BPO products purchased from 2020 to 2024 did not list benzene as an ingredient or warn of its potential presence.
