Despite recently announcing plans to close its production factory in Monaco and to sell its cosmetics factory in South Wales, L’Oréal is investing its cash into other areas of the business.

The company has just re-opened its Australian headquarters in St Kilda Road, in Melbourne, spending $7m to completely refurbish the building to the highest environmental standards.

L’Oréal is even seeking accreditation from Green Star Office Interiors, so confident is it that it reaches the high standards needed to achieve this.

Chief executive of L’Oréal Australia, Mark Tucker, said of the newly reopened building: “Because we are going to be there for the next 20 years, I thought it was really important that we had a home that met green criteria. And it was something that the staff had said very clearly that they wanted also.”

The building, kitted out with energy efficient light systems, environmentally friendly furnishings and improved fresh air circulation, can recycle more than 75% of the waste which was created in the refurbishment of the site.
