D Boudier, D Brunet, S Gofflo, E Vignau & B Closs introduce a novel active obtained from Vervain said to guarantee skin homeostasis and ensure vital efficiency in various compartments

With age, skin undergoes significant changes that affect all its compartments and alter its essential functions. In the epidermis, keratinocytes lose their vitality. Epidermal renewal slows, keratinocyte differentiation is impaired, the hydrolipidic film is depleted – the skin barrier weakens. The skin is then prone to dehydration, the first sign of ageing. In the dermis, we observe an overall decrease in activity in the fibroblasts, both in terms of their proliferative ability and their metabolic ability. On the skin’s surface, thinning and disorganisation of the 3-dimensional matrix network result in sagging, lack of firmness and the appearance of wrinkles.
