Organic Farmers & Growers (OF&G) has unveiled a new standard in organic certification for the C&T industry. The move comes from both industry and consumer demand to clear up any confusion over whether a product is authentic in its claims.

The requirements of certification are based on simple principles which include: minimal processing of products, products containing the maximum amount of organic ingredients, products of high quality with optimal efficacy, and a process which is both socially and ecologically responsible.

Richard Jacobs, chief executive at OF&G, commented, “It's important for us to support this area of the organic sector because it has a part to play in promoting ethical and environmentally sustainable consumption. When people buy these products they have a right to know that the claims made for them are independently scrutinised and approved.”
