As the personal care industry increasingly looks towards innovative packaging solutions to provide differentiation, trade events have gained in significance for the industry. For those interested in the next generation of convenient, premium and sustainable consumer-centric packaging one of the key packaging events is FaraPack Briefing 2006: New Technologies for Innovative Packaging, the fourth annual event for FaraPack.
Designed to give businesses a competitive edge through the transfer of knowledge and raw and innovative ideas from the academic research community, the general focus will be on high level deliverables of convenience and portability, premiumisation and brand enhancement, and sustainability presented through keynote and research briefing sessions and interactive workshops. Specific issues and areas examined will include pack semantics, engineering design, multisensory perceptions, digital technologies, nanotechnology, openability, biopolymers and colour emotion.
Keynote addresses will come from international experts including: Professor Charles Spence, department of experimental psychology, University of Oxford, who will present on the role of attentional interactions in multisensory perceptions and the applications for packaging design; and John Clarkson, Professor of engineering design, University of Cambridge, who will discuss the value of engineering design in enhancing the brand message alongside pack function. Presentations of packaging innovations applied through industrial case studies will be given by companies including Crown Technology.
“FaraPack Briefing provides a hotbed of ideas to deliver a new dimension in packaging,” said Dr Walter Lewis, md Faraday Packaging Partnership. “There will be an excellent mix of international delegates from academia and the commercial sector - a great opportunity to discuss potential project ideas.”
Organiser of the event, Faraday Packaging Partnership, describes itself as the largest innovation support network within the packaging sector, helping companies throughout the FMCG packaging supply chain to deliver a new dimension in packaging design. The partnership generates innovative ideas and opportunities through a network of world leading academic experts in consumer science, design and engineering and materials and structures.
Delegates are also invited to the back-tie FaraPack Associates and FaraPack students Awards Dinner at York’s prestigious Castle Museum.
