Rituals issues warning to community about fake accounts impersonating the brand

The Dutch beauty brand has alerted its consumers about fraudulent social media accounts impersonating the brand and its employees, stating, ‘we take this matter very seriously and are in contact with all affected social platforms’

Rituals has issued a warning to its customers regarding fraudulent social media accounts impersonating the brand.

The Dutch beauty retailer took to Instagram on 6 July to alert its community about fake accounts impersonating Rituals, the brand, or one of its employees.

In the post titled, “an important message”, Rituals said these false accounts are falsely contacting users about collaborations and special offers not affiliated with the brand.

“We have been made aware of several fake accounts on social media impersonating Rituals Cosmetics or one of our employees,” read Rituals Instagram post.

“Some are falsely contacting people for collaborations, others are promoting special offers and discounts that are not affiliated with Rituals whilst using our branding and logo.

“Please note that Rituals does not reach out via Instagram DM.

“All official communication will only come through verified channels such as @ritualscosmetics and rituals.com.

“Please know that we take this matter very seriously and are in contact with all affected social platforms to actively monitor and report these accounts as soon as they come to our attention.

“If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via DM or via the link in bio.”

Rituals Instagram post has garnered 4.7K likes and 352 comments in less than 24 hours, with users praising the retailer for the safety message.

Instagram user Teuta van de Wouw (@teutawouw) commented on the post: “They tried it with me too. I have reported them all. Thanks for the warning! 🙌”

User Winnie Augustus (@winnie_augustus_) added: “I have been approached several times as well. [I] had a gut feeling it was fake, although it looks very legit! So, thank you for sharing, much appreciated.”

User GS Perfume Selina (@gsperfumeselina) also commented: “Important public service announcement for all beauty and fragrance creators! So many fake brand DM scammers target niche content creators, this clear warning really helps everyone avoid losses 🧡”
