The RSPCA has announced the front runners in the cosmetics section of this year's Good Business Awards, Liz Earle, Lush, Marks & Spencer and Urban Decay noted as leading the field. However, organisers and judges Jo Fairley and Gerard Duvé are concerned that not all companies working in support of alternatives to animal testing are making enough noise about it.
“The calibre of entrants this year has been fantastically high and we are delighted to see some new names appearing. However, it is disappointing that yet more cosmetic companies have not taken up the challenge this year and entered,” commented Duvé. “All those who are supporting research into alternatives to animal testing should be shouting about their achievements, whether they have one exciting innovation or an across the board cruelty-free policy.”
David Bowles, RSPCA head of external affairs added: “It's heartening to see the conviction of those who are blazing a trail into supporting alternatives to animal testing in cosmetics. We hope their energy and forward thinking shows others what is possible and encourages even more companies to follow their lead next year.”
