Tarte Cosmetics to shake-up complexion category with adaptive CC-cream-serum hybrid product

The new complexion launch from Tarte Cosmetics claims to be ‘unlike’ any other on the market, combining colour correction with skin care to deliver light-to-medium coverage with adaptive technology for a perfect shade match

Tarte Cosmetics has introduced a new complexion product to its offering set to shake-up the tinted serum category.

CC Color-Correcting Tinted Serum is, according to the beauty brand, “unlike anything you have tried before”, offering buildable light-to-medium coverage through a skin care-first formulation.

The star of the show is the inclusion of encapsulated pigments through the brand’s adaptisphere technology, which sees the pigments adapt as they are blended into the skin.

This technology allows shades to flex across a range of skin tones despite only launching with a six shade range.

Tarte Cosmetics, founded by Maureen Kelly, claims that 100% of users said it adapts to their skin tone and is a “perfect shade match”.

The innovative launch follows on from Tarte Cosmetics’ introduction of a tubing eyeliner, which sees the popular mascara format enter into a new category.

Colour correction comes from Tarte’s Smart Clay Complex, which uses five Amazonia coloured clays to perfect skin.

Rose clay evens out skin tone while gold clay brightens and light green balances, with the addition of red and white clays to nourish and soften skin respectively.

Unlike other formulas, which encourage the use of brushes and tools to apply the product, Tarte Cosmetics recommends CC Color-Correcting Tinted Serum is blended into skin with fingers, noting that this method is “what activates the smart pigments for your perfect match”.

Just a small amount of product is needed, with the final shade revealed in one-to-two minutes after blending.

The formula can be built up for a higher level of coverage, or layered with the rest of a full make-up routine.

Skin care is central to the formula, with a blend of maracuja oil, niacinamide and plumping peptides to hydrate, blur and smooth skin, while caffeine energises and depuffs, and hyaluronic acid provides a moisture boost.

Tarte Cosmetics claims the waterproof and vegan formula delivers up to 16-hour longwear.

CC Color-Correcting Tinted Serum is available from tartecosmetics.com. $42.
